Most Anticipated Movies of Summer 2022

With spring break now under our belt, it is a sprint to the finish line towards finals. Spring is upon us, warmer weather will be coming, and, before we know it, summer will be here. To prepare for relaxation and our long months of summer break, we put together a few movies we are looking forward to seeing this summer.

Nope:

Finally, another Jordan Peele movie! Nope crosses countless genres - sci-fi, western, thriller, horror. Two caretakers at a horse ranch suddenly encounter a supernatural mysterious force that seems to have an effect on human and animal behavior. This has cowboys and aliens written all over it, and we are so excited! Jordan Peele famously wrote and directed Get Out and Us, which are both phenomenal horrors that serve as satire on race relations in America. Nope has an all-star cast with Keke Palmer, Daniel Kuluuya, Barbie Ferreira, and Steven Yeun. Little else is known about this movie, and Peele seems to want to keep it that way. Nope is set to hit theaters this July, so look for it this summer in theaters near you!

Men:

Can you tell we’re horror fans? Following the death of her husband, a young woman, played by Jessie Buckley, goes on a vacation alone to the countryside where someone or something seems to be following her. Yet another movie where little is known about the plot and little is given away in the trailer, but the tagline alone, “what haunts you will find you”, is enough to grab our attention. Men is being produced under A24, which has a history of putting out fantastic unsettling and disturbing horrors, and has a set release date of May 20th.

Lightyear:

Something fun for the whole family! For those of us who grew up on the Toy Story franchise and are sad to have seen it come to an end, Lightyear offers a look into the legendary space ranger, Buzz Lightyear’s beginnings. If that alone isn’t enough to excite you, Buzz will be played by none other than Chris Evans. If you haven’t seen the trailer, it is a must-watch. David Bowie’s “Life On Mars” echoes as the infamous Buzz Lightyear prepares for an epic launch into space. This high action-adventure animation will hit theaters June 17th.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:

Marvel and superhero fans better watch out because another amazing movie is on the way! With Marvel being one of the biggest superhero franchises in the world, they definitely know how to entertain their fans and even just the casual movie watchers. With the multiverse being revealed and the powerful Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange together in one movie, you could already tell this movie will definitely be something to talk about.

Bullet Train:

An upcoming action movie with a slight hint of comedy, what else could make this movie even better? Maybe it’s the cast that includes some famous names with notable backgrounds like the one and only Brad Pitt (do I even need to say?), Sandra Bullock (Ocean’s 8, The Blind Side, Bird Box, etc.), Joey King (famous child and upcoming actress involved in The Kissing Booth, Ramona and Beezus, etc.), Bad Bunny (Puerto Rican rapper/musician), Aaron Taylor Johnson (multi-genre actor with Kick-A**, Marvel, Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging, Anna Karenina, etc.), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson), and more. Maybe it’s the director that has worked on movies for Deadpool and John Wick that also caught some interest. Or maybe it’s the plot itself with the movie dealing with five assassins on a high speed bullet train… with their missions being mixed with one another? Whatever it may be, this movie has definitely caught our attention.
