Super Bowl LVI and Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

Hello everyone! My name is Mackenzie, and I am an Exercise Science major. My column is going to be all about sports! In the future, I want to be a physical therapist for a professional sports team, so writing about sports will give me good insight into my potential everyday life. Right now seems to be the perfect time to write my first post considering two of the most watched events are going on: the Super Bowl and the Olympics.

First up, we have Super Bowl LVI between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams being held on Sunday, February 13th in Los Angeles, California. During the regular season, the Bengals had 10 wins and 7 loses. Their team was led by their recently drafted quarterback, Joe Burrow. The Rams had 12 wins and 5 loses during their regular season games. The Rams are currently favored by four points meaning that experts say it will be a close game, but that the Rams are the slightly better team according to statistics.

For those who may be watching the football game but aren’t fans of the sport, the halftime performance is something to look forward to. This year's performers are Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige.

This time of the year is also important for Winter world sports--that is, the 2022 Winter Olympic Games being held in Beijing, China. These games started on February 4th and will continue through February 20th. There are 15 different sports held at the Winter Olympics this year. Some of the sports include ice hockey, figure skating, curling, and cross-country skiing. Ninety-one different teams/countries are competing this year.
