When Jesse Rutherford from The Neighborhood said:
“I hate the beach
But I stand in California with my toes in the sand
Use the sleeves of my sweater
Let's have an adventure
Head in the clouds but my gravity centered”
I felt that. But make it ~east coast~ because I have unnecessary beef with the west coast.
Anyways… I suppose sweater weather is among us? As I’m writing this, it’s nearly 80 degrees outside *gross* and I want to cry. So until further notice, I will be dreaming of actual fall weather and leaving the flannels and sweaters tucked away until I’m no longer sweating buckets anytime I walk anywhere on campus.
Fall is my favorite season, or “autumn” if you’re boujee like that, so naturally I have my go-to fall tunes. The following is a mix of playlists that I listen to year-round but hit different at this time of year. Some have been curated by yours truly and others I discovered. I broke it down to very specific subgenres for your liking. Blast these, take time to rest, and get outside before the bitter winter sets in! This week is the peak of fall foliage here in PA and it only comes around once a year so don’t miss Take a relaxing drive through the mountains sipping some apple cider (which is superior to any of these pumpkin drinks and I stand by that *ooh, controversial, I know!*) and throw one of these playlists on while you’re at it. Until next time, happy fall friends!
I’ve had this playlist on repeat the past two weeks. Thanks to this, I discovered my new love for Noah Kahan. Check out his music if you like the mellow side of alternative/indie music. Start with “Maine” and “Young Blood.” The playlist as a whole brings out my inner granola girl and I love it! Fun fact: I recently tried an oat milk latte for the first time with mint flavoring and I was indeed impressed. My bank account not so much but it warmed my body and soul.
This is one of my work-in-progress playlists that is ever changing; perfect for letting your mind float away to the clouds. Something about these songs make me picture myself traveling on a bus and running away. The reason it made the cut is because I associate fall with a comforting, hazy dream I never want to end.

Here is another work-in-progress playlist I had to include since Halloween is a major part of fall. I’m going to make this collaborative so feel free to contribute. The only criteria is that something about the song should resonate with you when you think of Halloween whether it’s the title, an instrumental part, nostalgia, etc.
Hand-crafted by yours truly because October is alpha among all the other months. I stand by that. Feel free to comment or email me for some fiery debate.
Could Taylor Swift and Adele low key be the Mariah Carey’s of fall? Anyways, here is a great random mix from Olivia Clark who I follow on Spotify. I love her creative playlists. Go check out her page!
Have any other fall tunes/playlists you vibe to during this time of the year? Let your music guru, Madison, know in the comments!
