The Commuter Committee had a little outing a few Friday nights ago and the hibachi tables were quickly filling up, but we were fortunate to be able to get a seat for the group after a short wait! This was around 7pm and the restaurant is usually busy during the evenings on weekends since it is a popular date night/hangout spot for dinner and a show.
As for the dinner portion, while we all ordered different things, we still got hibachi since that was what we came for obviously. There was a myriad of meats on the grill, ranging from seafood (scallops, shrimp, and salmon) to landfood (chicken and steak). Each meal came with a choice of fried noodles or fried rice, as well as soup or salad (in the case of Matt - a super salad hahah). Aki’s miso soup is delicious and helps to warm up your belly for the incoming onslaught of food.
The noodles/rice were cooked perfectly and had notes of sweetness coming from the Yum Yum Sauce. While I personally do not know the specifics of the sauce content, I just know that it is extremely addicting to dip everything during the meal into it because of how its sweetness enhances the flavors of the meat and vegetables. Whatever protein you choose will end up melting in your mouth and enveloping your tastebuds, causing you to want to eat more and more. Thankfully, we all have failed our weight loss New Years Resolution (or at least I did), so there is no regret in finishing the massive portions they give you. That being said, even I had to take some leftovers home because I became full of the good vibes we had that night <3.
What really makes this dining experience unique compared to other restaurants in the area is that they offer a show of sorts while you eat. It is quite a spectacle to behold when towering flames are in front of you. You might be confused since that sounds pretty dangerous, but the hibachi chefs and servers have everything under control! There are even onion towers that spew flames, bouncing eggs, and a shrimp catching contest with your friends! Without spoiling much of the fun, I attached a GIF for y’all to watch and get a taste of it all. As for the shrimp contest, you will not actually have to forage for shrimp, but if you want to join in the fun, the chef will cut up pieces of shrimp to toss for you to catch in your mouth. Matthew got it three times in a row!!!! I got zero. :(((
I would not let the busyness of the business fool you - the wait and food prices are a great investment to have a nice bonding time with friends or family, and an even better spot to take your significant someone. ;)
