Hello everybody!
It’s your favorite foodies, Jeremy and Matthew, back at it again with another restaurant review! Today we will be taking a look at Redemption BBQ.
Jeremy:
Redemption had a really good deal of 10 pieces boneless wings for $7 when I went in to eat. For the wing sauces, they offered BBQ, buffalo, and garlic parm, but I, of course, opted for garlic parm. Even with them being drenched in the wing sauce, the chicken was still able to maintain its crispiness throughout our whole meal, which is a feat in and of itself, because who wants to eat soggy wings?
As for my sides, I ordered cheese fries and their smoked mac and cheese. The cheese sauce had a bit of heat to it which really helped to enhance the flavor of the overall meal. The mac and cheese was so good too because the smokiness offered a nice flavor profile change. My overall impressions are pretty great about this place; solid eats for a decent price, too! I got everything in the photo, plus a sweet tea, for ~$17. Service was super quick as well, and I got my food within five minutes of ordering.
Matthew:
Sup everyone? If you need a little protein, you are looking at the right place. First, let's talk about logistics. Their restaurant has its own parking lot that connects to a low-traffic street, so getting in is cake. Plus, they’re only a few blocks away from campus, so walking is on the menu, too (last one, I promise). The half stack of ribs and 2 sides put me back $17 including tax/tip, and the portion was lunch for my often two-entrĂ©e self. Now, let's think about food. Jeremy already told you about the sides, so I’ll get right into the meat of things (I apologize profusely).
I will admit, I’m not a connoisseur of BBQ, but eating those ribs felt as natural as walking (that is, if walking were delicious). What more is there to say than tender ribs and solid sauce? As a note, I got the spicy sauce, and you do not have to worry about blowing yourself out; it is not very spicy.
My only regret is that I should’ve gotten the shanty bean side instead of loading up on fries. That was a lapse in judgement caused by my inexperience, and I vow never to repeat it.
My conclusion? Give it a try. It’s barbecue and it’s close to campus. Plus, if you’re prudent and you know how Raider Bucks work (please let me know) you can get a 10% discount (15% on Tuesdays). When we went in at lunchtime, the place wasn’t very busy, and we got our food really fast, so if you have a couple of hours in between classes, then you have the perfect time to go.
