College is undoubtedly stressful and has all of us working tirelessly around the clock. However, it’s important for our mental and physical health to take some breaks and get out! Shippensburg and the surrounding areas have a variety of locations that you can go to by yourself or with friends to get away from schoolwork. In today’s article, I'm examining two very local locations: Dykeman Park and Maplewood Farm Market. As long as you have a vehicle, you should be able to visit either of these locations.
Dykeman Park is located right off of Dykeman Road. It has two ponds with ducks and fish, trails, benches, parking, and some of the best relaxing spaces that you can find in Shippensburg. The park also features the history of the Confederate army for those interested in the Civil War! Make sure to wear proper footwear before walking on any of the trails, especially if it is still wet outside.
Once you are done walking the trails or admiring the gigantic fish, go ahead and drive down the road and continue straight onto 696 (Olde Scotland Rd). Drive on that for about five minutes, and on your left you should see Maplewood Farm Market. This shop sells fruits, vegetables, deli, sandwiches, groceries, ingredients, plants, decorations, candy, and so much more! They also have their own restaurant where you can order and go right back to shopping until they call your name. They have breakfast foods, cold subs and sandwiches, grilled food and a ton of sides! The staff is very friendly and there’s something there for everyone! They are closed on Sundays and they open every day at 8:00 AM. Make sure to get that well-deserved break and explore what Shippensburg has to offer! Travel safe!
